A client I am currently working with recently conveyed to me that he doesn’t prefer change; he told me directly that he is a creature of habit and this is an individual who has competed in bodybuilding in the past. I explained to him I acknowledge the fact he is like that but he will have to change. I took time out to explain the importance of switching up his lifting routine that he has been following just about the entire time he has lifted and the message became clear. The change would induce a dramatic response which would trigger new growth and strength gains. In the end, the results are worth more then simply following something because he is used to it.
It’s very easy to fall into a comfort zone. Ask yourself frequently if you have fallen into one. Are you really pushing yourself to uncomfortable levels and challenging yourself to something new each day? Going through the motions is one thing, but actually challenging yourself and struggling, that’s where the magic lies.
