If I cut, how can I ensure that I'm getting the most out of it. I am 5'1..113 lbs. Been bulking for a few months. I want to cut now, but I want to make sure I'm doing it right so it works. I have been eating 2200 calories and gained 18lbs total. I would like to cut 5-7. How should I do this? Thank you so much!

Hello,

Try starting by simply changing your workout program. I don’t know what you are currently following but if you are not doing cardio then began to introduce it into your program a few times a week. You can also reduce calorie intake but only make a small adjustment seeing as how physical stress will go up due to cardio. Once you are about a week into it, make some minor adjustments to caloric intake once again.

Try morning cardio or post-lifting cardio sessions in order to maximize fat burning and make sure you consume either a small amount of BCAA’s pre-workout or whey protein in order to help preserve muscle tissue.

One mistake you will want to avoid is thinking that weight training should be taken less serious and cardio should be the main focus. This mindset sets people up for muscle loss all the time. Some of the top bodybuilders are known for keeping intense lifting schedules even during cutting stages. While we all may not be bodybuilders, or even training to look like one, this method should be considered by everyone. Lifting intensely not only does wonders for cutting fat but it also gives the body a biological reason to maintain mass. Muscle mass tends to work off the “use it or lose it” philosophy and the best way to maintain it is by giving the body reason to have it.

This should set you on the right path. I hope it helps! Good luck, and work hard!
