Anonymous asked: Hello, I'm thinking about trying out the jump rope with some HIIT sessions to burn the fat I have. Is this a good fat burning exercise? If not, which best exercise do you prefer? Thanks.

This gave me a laugh
I was reading an article by Tom Venuto, bodybuilder and author, about things that stood out for him in 2011. I ran across this little gem and absolutely loved it!
“The best signature file I’ve seen all year. Scientific literacy is important, but this signature file gave me the best chuckle of the year: “Bro science: a term used by the scientific and pseudo-scientific community to try to...

haileygoesvegan-deactivated2012 asked: Thank you for the encouragement! I was just wondering if you have any suggestions on how to get to doing 1 pull up. Everything I found online was for people who could already do 1 and wanted to increase number of reps! Thank you. :)
Fail of the day
I started recording a new vlog today and halfway through the batteries died on the camera. I guess it will have to be another time, possibly tonight.
Anonymous asked: first thanks for sticking for your blog and being so helpful. id like to ask tho, what are yoir thoughts on ephedrine and eca stack?
Anonymous asked: Hi David. I hope you're doing well. I been working out for the past 6 week going to the gym twice a week usually working with weight machines because I don't have someone to spot me. My workouts are usually 30-40 mins and I'll go run a little over a mile afterwards. So far I managed only to lose roughly 2-3 lbs. Would increasing the distance I run/jog speed up the weight loss...
Anonymous asked: When on a cut, is it absolutely necessary to decrease your carbs in order to see results? My carbs have automatically decreased a little due to the decrease in calorie, but they are only about 20-30g less. Will I still get results??!
sammyishealthy asked: Hey David, I am so conflicted on protein intake. I really need to lose weight about 25lbs. I have been reading many articles, seeing my nutritionist, my old trainer ect. Everyone tells me something different. 1g/leanbodymass, 1g/lb., 60g a day for women, blah blah. I am just wondering what I should really be focusing on in terms of protein for fat loss.

My arm training, if anyone is interested
So I don’t usually post my workouts. I guess I was simply never really interested in doing so and I figured people would rather here and see other things as opposed to my personal workouts. However through speaking with a couple of individuals recently I decided I would post this arm session up. My workouts change frequently so what you see here is one of my many methods and styles.
Arm...

Are you in a comfort zone? If so, get out!
A client I am currently working with recently conveyed to me that he doesn’t prefer change; he told me directly that he is a creature of habit and this is an individual who has competed in bodybuilding in the past. I explained to him I acknowledge the fact he is like that but he will have to change. I took time out to explain the importance of switching up his lifting routine that he has...
Sore
I know I blasted shoulders hard when I struggle to remove my shirt. Just about any movement of my arms causes some type of pain, but it’s a good pain, of course. The tight, sore, beat down feeling… have to love it.
Anonymous asked: Hi! I was just wondering if you think four slices of bread a day is too much? I know bread has a lot of preservatives and unnatural ingredients. I usually have a Thomas hearty grain English muffin for breakfast and an egg sandwich with two pieces of smart wonder wheat bread for lunch. Just curious on your opinion about it! Thank you!

Fitness/nutrition talk with my family
While my family was visiting over the weekend I became engaged in an inevitable conversation about fitness/nutrition with my mom and brother-in-law. We discussed many things but one topic in particular was that of carbohydrates; I have always had a very specific stance on carbs. Here is the gist of what I mentioned-
“Look, we live in a carb fearing society. Our nation is led to believe that...
I’ll be making it a priority to record a new vlog this week because it has been too long! Look for a new one by the end of the week. Any ideas on what the subject should be, feel free to comment. Thank you!
Your biggest obstacle today will be you. It’s always been this way and always will be. It’s easy to say we are not in control or other obstacles decide our fate but the more responsibility we take, the less excuses we need.
Here’s a video of Trixie acting her normal crazy self on top of my desk. Note the stuffed animal of the lamb at the end :)
I hope this put a smile on your face. HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!
life-one--step-at-a--time asked: Hi David :) It's been a while since I asked you something, haha! So I am being more adventurous with my exercises and I'm going to try out something with a barbell tomorrow. What exercises can you recommend for a beginner with the bar? Thanks!

The first step towards success is to take the...
Many times people come to me asking me to help improve a certain situation they are trying to handle. For example, recently my brother-in-laws friend came to me saying-
“Hey David, my name is ….. and I’m friends with ….. He mentioned to me that you would be able to assist me with bodybuilding and weight loss. I’m currently trying to get in better shape and I hope you...
sans-fear asked: Hey, any tips on when is good to get back to leg workouts after ROYALLY over doing squat presses? It's been probably 4 or 5 days and I'm still in excruciating pain! :/ Or what other exercises could I do that would minimize or avoid the pain?
[chronicbadhairday said: I feel like it’s been too long since I’ve chilled with Trixie.]
That’s because it has been too long! She misses you.

Training for the day
I have a hot date this morning… the gym awaits my arrival.
I’ll be setting things off with 315 lb deadlifts with 30 second rest periods (those short rest periods make it feel like 400). Once that is done, pulldowns await me. The final back movement of the day will be 30 second rest period sets of 125 lb dumbbell rows, which I will totally destroy. Back will be followed by a small amount of bicep...
Things can get hard and challenges arise, that’s how it goes. It’s no different for people just beginning versus those who have seen massive amounts of success, remember that. If they did it, you can as well.
Anonymous asked: If I cut, how can I ensure that I'm getting the most out of it. I am 5'1..113 lbs. Been bulking for a few months. I want to cut now, but I want to make sure I'm doing it right so it works. I have been eating 2200 calories and gained 18lbs total. I would like to cut 5-7. How should I do this? Thank you so much!

These are the types of questions we need to be asking ourselves. Honest answers will give us honest insight as to what we need to be doing. Lets get it!

Sometimes I reflect/consistency is key to success!
If I reflect on how my training sessions are now in comparison to how they used to be, boy, how things have changed! I have ran the gauntlet on training programs over the years and I have always trained with intensity and focus since day one. The big change is in how I feel overall. Over time my body has simply improved its ability to respond to training; my body is much more efficient now. In...

My friends know me so well
I was having a typical training talk with one of my closest friends, and he said this- “Yeah we are all training for something different- Amit is training for soccer, I’m training for golf, you’re training to be The Beast from X-men. I mean, we all have our own goals.”
He knows me so well. :)

Inspirational "old man"
I met an individual yesterday who was about 75 years old. He asked me if I wanted to see a picture of him when he was younger and I said yes of course. He didn’t speak very well so I missed some details but he showed me a picture of him on a bodybuilding stage at about the age of 30. He told me he’s been training since 15 years of age and he eventually won the Mr. California title. I...

I totally agree
I was reading some information that fitness industry expert and author Tom Venuto wrote. He had a section in which readers commented on what he wrote, and a few of them he responded back to. I really enjoyed his response to this readers comment so I thought I would share-
Question from reader- “I do understand that starvation mode is real, there’s also a body of health that exists that...
